The first blog from The Inconsistent & Often Un-Plant-Related Blogger
Hi, I'm Gillian.
Eek! First blog post! ever.
Exciting right? Right.
But first, a wee caveat.
Honesty and wit is how I roll so that's what you can expect here. I've often thought about blogging / journaling, but I'm excellent at talking myself out of things, thus not blogging until now. Here's a couple of holder-backers that have stopped me in my tracks.
1. I write the way I speak. If we haven't yet connected in person, I'm nervous that my writing will come across as tangential and scattered. I talk like a tree: on-topic, concise and strong, like a grounded tree-trunk and then, all of a sudden - branches! Six stories that I swear have something to do with what I originally started talking about, speaking a mile a minute to end-up looking right at you and asking, "What was I originally talking about?"
2. Grammar. There's a good chance I've said that grammar is optional. School was really, R E A L L Y tough for me and grammar was one of those things that just didn't stick. Lucky for me, I knock people-skills right out of the park. Insert emoji-wink-face. #howdoesthiswork
Today's blog is inspired by Wednesday's Plant Shop & Pick-up that took place at Kingston Coffee House in the Kingston Center. Rooted Connection is my accidental houseplant business that's meant to be. What started as simple trips to Toronto to buy plants for friends quickly turned into Gillian's Houseplant Side-Hustle and then Rooted Connection, which is really a community-building, new-friends-forever venture, disguised as a houseplant business.
I don't have words to express what the Rooted Connection community means to me, but when I say, "it's more than just plants," and, "I'm a plant-connector, people-obsessor," it's the heartfelt truth. You're my family and I wouldn't be here without you and your ongoing support. Whether we've met once, twice, weekly or through online engagement, I'm so glad you're here and thankful for the opportunity to keep getting to know you. If we haven't yet met, know that I'm looking forward to it. #bestfriendsforever
Thanks for reading, dear friends.

Outtakes (is that a thing when it comes to blogs?)
First blog = done!
Not bad for a first-timer if I do say so myself, and not as hard as I'd thought.
I guess I do have things to say, no surprise there.
I love, love Costco, hence-my-photo-of-choice. (Why is it that the best selfies are often taken in the most random of places?) If you've ever wondered, "Is there someone out there who'll walk around Costco with me for a couple hours?" it's me! Call me. Insert wink-emoji again. #illeventuallyfigureitout
Grammatical errors have been corrected by my very dear friend, Jenn. Author and book editor extraordinaire.
If you're looking for perfection, you've come to the wrong place.
